Medical Diagnostic Laboratory
 
Diagnostic services offered by medical laboratories has increased from year to year in line with the university as a center of knowledge that evolved to produce quality scholars and reference and research center in the country and abroad.
 
Starting with 12 types of tests offered in January 1984, rose to 72 types of tests in December 1995, the Medical Unit Transfusion was updating the quality of its services to current and quick to offer 61 types of diagnostic tests of hematology, including routine tests are specific, and 20th transfusion diagnostic tests, including regular, special test.
 
Blood Donation & Transplant Therapy
 
Apart from carrying out diagnostic tests related to the use of blood, Transfusion Medicine Unit's main function is to supply of blood, blood components and therapeutic services for patients at USM Hospital. For this purpose, the Transfusion Medicine Unit always carry out a blood donation campaign in even outside the campus. Mobile Blood Bank Unit has been established to carry out blood donation activities outside of the unit.
 
Stem Cell Transplant Hemopoetik
 
Stem Cell Transplantation Laboratory Services Hemopoetik start operating by the end of 2007. Basically, this act laboratory support services transplant, ranging from the mobilization of stem cells into stem cell harvesting stage. Next the stem cell harvest for cryopreservation manipulated so that the transfer back to the patient.
 
Apheresis & venesection
 
Therapeutic apheresis and venesection services offered by the Transfusion Medicine Unit. Therapeutic apheresis include leukaferesis, plateletferesis and plasmapheresis. Leukaferesis and therapeutic plateletferesis involves isolation of white blood cells and platelets from patients with WBC and platelet counts that are too high will reduce the symptoms of clinically relevant.
 
Autologous Blood Donation
 
Autologous blood donation is one of the services provided in Transfusion Medicine Unit. It involves the donation of blood from the patient himself, either before, during or after a procedure. Donated blood can only be used for patients themselves only. The donation process will ensure the safety of the blood recipient of donated blood since the blood is from the receiver itself.
 
Academic
 
Department of Hematology and Medical Unit Transfusion directly involved in the academic programs of the School of Medical Sciences (PPSP), School of Dentistry (PSG), School of Health Sciences (School of Health Sciences), Institute of Dental Medicine (AMDI) and USM-KLE, India ,
 
This involvement includes facilitating placement and supply learning and teaching laboratories. The staff that outpatient care services and laboratory diagnostic services are also involved in such programs. Academic activities including lectures, practical, tutorials, seminars and other students to the school, Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate including universities, private universities from home and abroad.
 
Research
 
Department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Unit also offers tests Hematology and Transfusion Medicine for research purposes. Each test will be charged to the budget of the use of facilities and materials laboratory supplies. Researchers who wish to apply for this service must first consult with the Chairman of the Department of Haematology / Transfusion Medicine Unit.
 
Service Agreement
 
Test applied from hospitals and other institutions will involve service agreements and get through the Head of Department.
