Mr Michal Ng is a Professional Transfusion Medicine Scientist with 25 years of experience in blood banking – with special interest in Immunohaematolgy for Red Cell Reference Laboratory and Crossmatch Laboratory.

EDUCATION

He graduated from University of Bristol with M.Sc in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences 2005 – 2006, National University of Singapore B.Sc in Microbiology 1995 - 1998.

EXPERIENCE

Transfusion Medicine Scientist 2007 – current

• Oversee technical aspects of pre-transfusion testing for Crossmatch Laboratory and Red Cell Reference Laboratory

• Ensure fulfilment of all licensing and international accreditation requirements (e.g. AABB)

• Provide guidance on training for both internal and external parties – which includes medical technologists

and clinicians from local as well as overseas institutions

• Advise relevant hospital blood bank laboratories on the use of appropriate reagent and implementation of procedures to circumvent potential difficulties in pre-transfusion testing e.g. complications arising from the use of anti-CD38 (Daratumumab) and anti-CD47

Senior Laboratory Officer 2004 – 2007

• Provide supervisory support for personnel in various sections assigned – Infectious Disease Testing Laboratories, Crossmatch Laboratory and Component Processing Laboratory

Laboratory Officer 1998 – 2004

• Perform key operational tasks related to the various sections assigned – Infectious Disease Testing Laboratories, Crossmatch Laboratory and Component Processing Laboratory.
